Day at the Statehouse: Human Trafficking (FULL/WAITLIST)

November 16, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am

***The registration for Day at the Statehouse is now at capacity. If you would like to join the waitlist in the event that a registered participant cannot attend, please continue filling out the registration form.***

All are invited to join IJPC and End Slavery Cincinnati in Columbus, OH on Wednesday, November 16 for a Day at the Statehouse. We’ll meet up with other anti-human trafficking coalitions from all around the state to support the passage of Ohio Senate Bill 183 / House Bill 319: Enact Expanding Human Trafficking Justice Act.

SB 183 and HB 319 would expand the criminal record expungement program to help more survivors of trafficking get a fresh start once they’re out of their trafficking situation. We know that trying to find a job or a safe place to live is extremely difficult when you have a criminal record. For many human trafficking survivors, being arrested for crimes they didn’t commit is a common reality. Traffickers often force their victims to take the blame for something they did, or force them to commit illegal acts on their behalf.

Be sure to sign our petition in support of this bill, so we can drop off the signatures to our legislators on November 16.
