News conference calling on Congress to support Dream Act

March 1, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

DACA recipients will join the president of Xavier University to call on our local members of Congress to support a clean Dream Act allowing young immigrants to work, study and raise families without fear of deportation.

Each day, 122 young immigrants lose their protection from deportation because of President Trump’s decision last fall to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The deadline given to Congress of March 5th is quickly approaching next week and we need our leaders to act to protect young immigrants in our schools and communities. This is an urgent moral imperative and a clean Dream Act is the permanent solution we need.

Press Conference will take place at Xavier University, Clocktower Lounge, Third floor of the Gallagher Student Center (room 360), 3800 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45207. Parking available in the visitor’s lot by the Cintas Center.

Speakers Include:
José Cabrera, Xavier University Class of 2018, Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center, and
DACA recipient
Fr. Michael Graham, SJ, Xavier University President
Sr. Tracy Kemme, SC, Sr. Andrea Koverman, SC, and Sr. Jean Miller, SC, Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati
Heyra Avila, DACA Recipient
